Good Morning to You & Have a Nice Day

Dear Children,
"Shadows of yesterday
have faded away
Sun has reappeared
it's a brand new day
Birds singing their song
loud and clear
Announcing to the world
a new day is here
Sun appears in the east
has begun a new quest
In the middle at noon
and then sets in the west
Wishing you contentment
and peace along the way
Good morning to you
have a nice day"
With Love, Amma-Naana

Life's Journey...

Dear Children,
Do not undermine your worth by comparing yourself with others. It is because we are different that each of us is special.
Do not set your goals by what other people deem important. Only you know what is best for you.
Do not take for granted the things closest to your heart. Cling to them as you would your life; for without them, life is meaningless.
Do not let your life slip through your fingers by living in the past nor for the future. By living your life one day at a time, you live all of the days of your life.
Do not give up when you still have something to give. Nothing is really over until the moment you stop trying.
The quickest way to receive love is to give love. The fastest way to lose love is to hold it too tightly. In addition, the best way to keep love is to give it wings.
Do not dismiss your dreams. To be without dreams is to be without hope. To be without hope is to be without purpose.
Do not run through life so fast that you forget not only where you have been, but also where you are going. Life is not a race, but a journey to be savored each step of the way.
With Love, Amma-Naana

Opposite ...
The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference.
The opposite of art is not ugliness, it's indifference.
The opposite of faith is not heresy, it's indifference.
And the opposite of life is not death, it's indifference.

Thought For The Day

Dear Children, Good Morning.
~ Only when we are no longer afraid do we begin to live.
~ How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives.
~ Life is a process of becoming, a combination of states we have to go through.
Where people fail is that they wish to elect a state and remain in it.
~ Time is a companion that goes with us on a journey. It reminds us to cherish each moment, because it will never come again. What we leave behind is not as important as how we have lived.
~ Three passions have governed my life: The longings for love, the search for knowledge, And unbearable pity for the suffering of humankind.
With Love, Amma-Naana

Eating Healthy and Living Better - Congratulations Dr.AparnaKamalesh
Good Morning Dear All:
Nana, I have seen the updated www.aca-edmonton.org. Now we have lots of useful links on it. Thank you for all your efforts. Certainly our community will benefit from the website.
Here we are all fine. I came to office after my morning workout (40 min/550 cal/3 mi). Feel very fresh now. Yesterday evening Vikram enjoyed Soccer. We went to soccer field by walk (myself by walk and Vikram on bike). It took 50 minutes to go there. Vinod and Kamalesh joined us in car. We all had very good time outdoors on a bright warm day.
We weighed in today and I lost 4 pounds this week and this makes a total of 27 pounds. Our 3 months weight loss challenge is over and most of us lost at least 10 pounds. Debbie won and she lost 33 pounds. I am the second one. We all are happy and Debbie plan to take all of us for lunch outside some time next week.
We just finished our teleconference with Pfizer and it was a productive one. Have a nice day all of you.
With love, yours Akkaiah
Dear Akkaiah Congratulations on an amazing feat of losing 27 pounds in 3 months in a healthy way. Also, our congratulations to Debbie and all the other participants who made a healthy choice in a fun way with group activity. This will have very good impact on overall health and activities. Of these 3 months, 1 week you could not do exercises for the travel and celebration in Seattle. But we all had a good family time. Please keep up your healthy food and exercise habits. Loving Brother Ajay

To Love, To Educate, To Discipline - By Dr. A. Ranga Rao
Dear All,To love, to educate, to discipline -
These three are not separate phenomena. They are complimentary, a unitary process. If one is there, the second and third will be there. If educating and disciplining do not follow love, it implies that it is not true love. Giving license to do as the child wishes is called permissiveness, a kind of indulgence. When one loves a child, one tries to educate the child in right thinking and right doing.
Educating the child implies hard struggle on the part of the parent and it comes into being only if there is true love for the child. Discipline, if it is to be real and creative has to be approached voluntarily, happily and healthy; through love, through example, through mutual hearty communication between parent and child.
When the relationship is such, educating child is very easy and a joyful work. To be able to achieve this, the parent has to have continuous good learning for himself/herself and to seek joy in well ordered disciplined daily life.
To love is to learn and teach, to learn and teach is to discipline oneself. Love, education and discipline are integrals, not differentials.
With Love, Amma-Naana

Health and Happiness go hand in hand.

Dear Children,
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. This is why primary-care providers spend so much time talking about things like exercising.
On the other hand, prevention is a radical new idea when it comes to our emotional mental health. Road to happiness takes hard work.
Depression and other issues are necessarily the result of poor emotional care. If we are really interested in comprehensive and holistic prevention, it is essential that we pay attention not just to our physical health, but our emotional and mental health as well.
The good news is that medicine is changing...
Every night, write down three good things that happened during the day, and then write why you think they happened. Gratitude is a powerful way to help people move from focusing on the negative to the positive. In some small study, doing this daily for one week helped people feel less depressed up to three months later.
Share good news as often as possible. Encourage others when they tell you good news. Every time we share good news, we reinforce those feelings in ourselves and in others. Our relationships also tend to be stronger and more positive.
Focus on cultivating one of the five following qualities. Love,, Hope, Gratitude, Curiosity or Vitality. Don't go to the best. Go for the satisfactory.

Ajay, now that I am home I visited the blog and it warmed my heart
Ajay, my computer at work blocked my attempt to visit the blog. I forwarded to my home e-mail and just visited it. I can not even begin to tell you how touched I am that your beautiful father gleaned from my site such a wonderful biography. God bless him and his for eternity. You are truly a very special family and I am blessed to now count you as friends. Thank you so much. I also loved the baby shower pictures and tributes. This is ever so exciting. Hazel, Kinnera, David and I are so excited to come up and visit. We certainly will do so this summer. God bless you and your family. I am the one enriched knowing you. Have a wonderful weekend.

Baby Shower - Post Event Messages
Dear Rani and Ajay:
Congratulations to you, again. It was nice visiting your place, attending the warm occassion, and sharing your feelings over the long week-end. Period was short but memorable indeed.
Return to Edmonton was very comfortable. We are all back to our regular schedule.
Best wishes, and kind regards to you all.
Kamalesh
It was our pleasure Ajay. It was a great pleasure to meet all of your family members. I really couldn't spend all the time I wanted to for the event planning, hence I was unable to make it as good as I wanted to. Sorry, I too had to work within my own constraints :(
Uncle & Aunty eppati varaku untaaru ikkada? Please let Aunty know that the mirapa pandu patchchadi is very very tasty. Thanks for a nice time during the function, we all enjoyed it.
Please do not hesitate if you need any assistance while you are getting ready for a wonderful parenthood:)
All the best!
Rachna, Swapna, Krishnamohan
Ajay,
We had a great time at your party. The theme of the party was great and it was organized very well. Expression of love is very important and we often tend to take this for granted. I am sure Rani must have felt very special on this important day.
Regards,
Prasad

Celebrate Togetherness.
Dear Children,
The following is an excerpt from my reading.
Have a Nice Day!
Love, Amma-Naana
Here are a few quick hints to help you enjoy, rather than suffer, through the holiday get-together:
Relax, and remember - it's about fellowship, connection, and fun, not about perfection.
Look for the positive side in everything. There is always a positive side.
Don't say anything negative to or about anyone or anything. It won't help or change the situation, and will just make things worse.
Don’t bring up politics, religion, or any other controversial topic that can lead to arguments.
When you're in a conversation, listen to what's being said instead of planning what you're going to say next. Focus your attention on the other person.
Ask others about their lives; don't hog the floor. Dust off your curiosity. Ask open-ended questions.
If someone is hogging the attention, or the conversation, start a separate conversation with someone who's looking left out. Work to make them feel better. You'll feel better too.
If you're the host or hostess, plan, plan, plan!
Do as much as you can ahead of time, even to setting the table. Ask your guests to bring a dish, or to help out in the kitchen. Giving people something to do is a great ice breaker and helps them feel included.
If you're a guest, offer to help!
No matter what the host or hostess says, bring a little something: a small flower arrangement, after dinner candy . And don't forget the thank you note, handwritten, later! It may be a pain, but it will make your hosts feel wonderful.
Go around the table and ask everyone to say one thing they are thankful for. You might be surprised what comes up -- and it can start the meal off in a wonderful, positive direction.
Reminisce about the good times. I know there were some. How can you create more?
Consider planning or suggesting activities other than eating and drinking. Play touch football outside or go for a walk. Bring a board game or work on a jigsaw puzzle. It's much more fun to be arguing about landing on Boardwalk than old, un-resolved family issues.
Finally, if you absolutely know it's going to be pure hell, don't go. You don't need the aggravation, and neither does anyone else. Make reservations instead of having them.
Remember, the holidays are about celebrating, not about family therapy, old hurts or resentments. Leave those at home, and you'll have a much better time.
