The Laws of Lifetime Growth: Dan Sullivan & Catherine Nomura

The desire to grow is nothing less than the love of existence. Growth is a fundamental desire of all human beings.

· Your future is your property.
· Courage is to think big.
· Always make your future bigger than past.
· Always make your learning greater than your experience.
· Always make your contribution bigger than your reward.
· Always make your performance greater than your applause.
· Always make your enjoyment greater than your effort.
· Always make your confidence greater than your comfort.
· Always make your questions greater than your answers.
· Challenge yourself to keep the discussion.
· Engage your curiosity.
· There is nothing powerful than a question.
· Questions connect us with the world.
· The future is always created through action and performance.

Greatest Love Of All

I believe that children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be

Everybody's searching for a hero
People need someone to look up to
I never found anyone who fulfilled my need
A lonely place to be and so I learned to depend on me

I decided long ago never to walk in anyone's shadow
If I fail, if I succeed at least I'll live as I believe
No matter what they take from me, they can't take away my dignity
Because the greatest love of all is happening to me
I found the greatest love of all inside of me
The greatest love of all is easy to achieve

Learning to love yourself, it is the greatest love of all

Home Joys

Home joys are known in simple things,
In friends that share a cup of tea,
In books that waken old, old dreams
And songs that stir the memory.
Every day do something that will inch you closer to a better tomorrow.

It is not so much what happens to each of us that determines our quality of life, but rather our reaction to what happens.

If you lose the power to laugh, you lose the power to think.

Children are the living messages we send to a time we will not see.

Children will not remember you for the material things you provided but for the feeling that you cherished them.
- Richard L. Evans

We worry about what a child will become tomorrow, yet we forget that he is someone today.

Children need love, especially when they do not deserve it.

Social Spats

Parenting in public: Stop lecturing on my wall, Mom.
Parents and kids need online boundaries

One touch can show you care

One star can guide a ship at sea
One candle wipes out darkness,
One laugh will conquer gloom.
One hope will raise our spirits
one touch can show you care.

To appreciate beauty,
To find the best in others,
To leave the world a bit better,
To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.

It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are: Cummings

It takes courage
to refrain from gossip
when others delight in it.

It takes courage
to live according
to your own convictions.

Winning means being unafraid to lose: Tarkenton

All glory comes from daring to begin. With the new day comes new strength and new thoughts.

And every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end. Many of our fears are tissue-paper-thin, and a single courageous step would carry us c l e a r through them.

Happiness is not a station you arrive at, but a method of traveling.

"Every day, in every way I am getting better and better". - Emile Coue

Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage. Being a better person is a process. No matter how good someone is, he can’t be perfect overnight.

So the important thing is that we grow every day. Let us make growing a habit and we will see significant progress when we look back.

Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow

Having self-esteem is essential if we are to create the lives we want to live.

'Self-esteem is like a difficult-to-cultivate flower. It requires frequent nurturing that occurs when you keep your word and follow through on your promises'.
* Derrick Bell

To have fulfilling work, a sense of personal power and supportive relationships, our sense of self is the foundation.

The word esteem means to honour and respect. When we honour and respect ourselves we naturally do so for others.

If we want to be treated with respect, we must first fully respect and love ourselves.

How much we honour and respect ourselves is often at the core of many of our problems and even physical illnesses.

If we look first to cultivating self-esteem we may find that many difficulties in life will melt away.

Every man is a quotation from all his ancestors

Family faces are magic mirrors. Looking at people who belong to us, we see the past, present and future. We make discoveries about ourselves: Gail·

The best effect of fine persons is felt after ...we have left their presence: Ralph Waldo Emerson·

The bond that links your true family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other's life: Richard Bach·

Call it a clan, call it a network, call it a tribe, and call it a family. Whatever you call it, whoever you are, you need one: Jane Howard·

Actually, who are you NOT to be?

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our Light, not our Darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous?
Actually, who are you NOT to be?
~Nelson Mandela

Live - because life is everything.

Smile - It makes a world of difference.
Dance - Who knows when you won't be able to?
Cry - Holding those emotions in is bad for you.
Hug - Helps you and helps another.
Laugh - What's the point in hiding happiness?
Live - because life is everything.

Play with life, laugh with life, dance lightly with life, and smile at the riddles of life...

We cannot direct the wind, but we can adjust the sails.

As we sail through life, we don’t avoid rough waters; sail on because calm waters won’t make a skillful sailor. So, each day, we need to check the direction of the wind, decide where we want to go and then set our sails to get there – as opposed to cursing the wind for not making it easy.

Play with life, laugh with life, dance lightly with life, and smile at the riddles of life, knowing that life’s only true lessons are writ small in the margin.

A walk a day keeps the doctor away

Jerry Morris started exercising for a few minutes each day and lived until his 100th year.

A half-hour purposeful walk five times a week will reduce your risk of heart disease, diabetes and strokes. Older people sometimes feel they have left it too late. But it is never too late to and there are no upper age limits. Start gently. Take your time: a 15-minute flat walk in the nearest park, four or five times a week. Within a month or so you will, literally, be taking it in your stride. You are already beginning to protect your heart. Build the walks up. When you can comfortably walk for half an hour in the park, go further afield. Water doesn't flow up hills. Try following rivers and canal tow paths.

Jasper's jumping during January fest...

Two weeks of moguls, music and merriment.........

Canadians know how to make the most of a crisp winter day. In fact, they're proud of their ability to enjoy all that snow and ice have to offer.

Enjoying snow and more only begins to describe the thinking behind the town of Jasper's annual celebration of winter, called Jasper in January.

The town's normally placid streets will be festooned with ice sculptures, banners and posters, letting visitors know they've arrived just in time to take in two weeks of winter fun.

The 21st annual event begins Friday, Jan. 15 with a kickoff party at the Whistle Stop Pub and a show across the street at the Athabasca Hotel by Edmonton's Ten Second Epic. The band performs again the following day.

The true mystery of the world is the visible, not the invisible. - Oscar Wilde

Today is a good day to look around at the grandeur of creation. Whether flower or cactus, butterfly or caterpillar, elk or lizard, vegetable garden or compost pile. Our world is magnificent - all of it. Rejoice and give thanks.

Stop Worrying about Your Health- For most of us, “pretty healthy” is healthy enough. “Is the goal to live forever?” : Dr. Susan M. Love

Dr. Love, a clinical professor of surgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles, says that failing to live by the various health rules is a major source of stress and guilt, particularly for women.

“I would contend it’s not. It’s really to live as long as you can with the best quality of life you can. ”Take the issue of sleep. Most people believe that it’s best to get at least eight hours a day. But the studies on which this belief is based look at how much men and women sleep under ideal conditions — silence, darkness and no responsibilities other than taking part in a sleep study. These studies tell us how much people will sleep when they have nothing else to do, but they don’t tell us anything about how much sleep we really need on a daily basis or what will happen if we get less.

The reality is that individual sleep needs can vary. Some people need very little while others need more than the average. “The issue of sleep causes a lot of guilt by women,” Dr. Love said. “We need to be more realistic. If you’re sleepy all the time, you’re not getting enough sleep for you. If you’re fine on six hours, don’t worry about it.

”Likewise, while exercise is important, many people don’t place enough value on the fitness that comes from everyday tasks like lifting and chasing children, lugging groceries and cleaning house.

“The point of this is to use your common sense, and if you feel good, then you’re fine,” she said. “The goal is not to get to heaven and say, ‘I’m perfect.’ It’s to use your body, have some fun and to live a little.”

Have a Happy Work Week

Faith is taking the first step even when we don’t see the whole staircase.
- Martin Luther King, Jr.

Today is the first day of the rest of our life.
Whatever we want in life, let’s start today. Not tomorrow - today.
Let it be a small beginning - a tiny beginning. Our happiness depends on starting today - every day.

The Best Six Doctors

The best six doctors anywhere,
And no one can deny it,
Are sunshine, water, rest, and air,
Exercise and diet.

These six will gladly you attend,
If only you are willing.
Your mind they'll ease.
Your will they'll mend.
And charge you not a shilling.

— Nursery rhyme quoted by Wayne Fields,
What the River Knows, 1990

I wish you Health.
So you may enjoy each day in comfort.
I wish you the Love of friends and family.
I wish you the Beauty of nature.
I wish you Wisdom to choose priorities.
I wish you Happiness and Joy.
I wish you the best of everything.

Home is where the heart is

A home is something more than just a domicile, it’s emotional. It’s where people can live their lives, spend time with friends and most importantly raise their families. It’s where their memories are built and it’s where they feel safe.

Difference Between the Boss & Leader

The boss drives his workers; the leader coaches them.
The boss depends upon authority; the leader on goodwill.
The boss inspires fear; the leader inspires enthusiasm.
The boss “I”; the leader, “We.”
The boss fixes the blame for the breakdown; the leader fixes the breakdown.
The boss knows how it I done; the leader shows how.
The boss says “go”; the leader says “let’s go!”
